James P. Allen, Sr.Jim focuses his practice on municipal, labor and employment issues. Jim also assists clients with commercial litigation and administrative law matters with an emphasis on the banking and commercial real estate sectors. Jim began his career in 1993 with an internship in the Michigan Attorney General's office. After graduation, he joined the Detroit law firm of Butzel Long as an associate in the firm's prestigious labor department. In 1995, Jim accepted an appointment as a judicial law clerk for the Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, the Honorable James H. Brickley. Jim was soon offered an appointment as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable John Feikens, United States District judge for the Eastern District of Michigan where he served until 1998. Following his time with the Philadelphia-based law firm of Pepper Hamilton, LLP. Jim became one of six attorneys representing General Motors Corporation in Labor and Employment matters. In 2000, Jim formed Allen Brothers, Attorneys and Counselors, PLLC with his older brothers, David and John. In 1991, Jim graduated with High Distinction Honors from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Sciences and Arts. In 1994 he graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. He received a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations from Wayne State University in 2004.
